Where to charge your EV in Cambodia: the 2026 guide
Charging in Cambodia has come a long way. Here is where to find chargers, how to pay with KHQR, and how to plan around the growing network.
Read articleThe drive from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap is one of Cambodia's classic road trips — roughly 314 km along National Road 6. It's very doable in an EV with a little planning. Here's how to make it stress-free.
Your car's advertised range is a best-case number. On a highway, at speed, with air conditioning running in Cambodian heat, plan for meaningfully less. A good rule of thumb: assume you'll comfortably use 70–80% of the advertised range on a highway run. If your EV is rated around 400 km, plan the trip as if you have about 300 km of usable highway range.
For most modern EVs, the trip is either a single-charge run or one easy stop:
Beat range anxiety with a buffer. Aim to arrive at each charger with at least 15–20% left. That margin covers detours, traffic and the occasional charger that's offline — and it turns "will I make it?" into a non-issue.
An EV makes this route quiet, smooth and cheap to run — and the network of charging stops keeps getting better. With one full charge to start and a relaxed midpoint top-up, Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by electric car is genuinely easy. If you run a hotel or resort in Siem Reap, offering reliable guest charging is fast becoming something travellers actively look for.
EV Cambodia gives operators, hotels and property owners the CSMS, driver app, ABA PayWay/KHQR payments and local support to launch paid EV charging.
